Authenticity Statement Regarding Generative AI
I DO NOT use generative AI to create my books, edit my books, make covers, merch, or other artwork.
I write my own outlines and character sketches, sometimes on the computer and even in a paper notebook.
I sometimes use my own photos that I have taken, or drawings that I have made for the purposes of marketing and scanned and edited them in Photoshop myself. I may at a future date buy artwork from other indie artists for various projects.
Ways that I DO utilize AI in my work that are NOT generative AI:
PLEASE NOTE
If I am part of an anthology or collected works, or if I am signed by a publisher that uses generative AI for their covers, I have no control over that. All books, articles, and posts that I have total control over will not utilize generative AI.

Ways that I DO utilize AI in my work that are NOT generative AI:
- I use professional formatting software such as Vellum and Atticus to format my books.
- I use spell checkers and grammar suggestions through MS Word. I write my books mostly in Word or Google Docs in a pinch. At some point I may use other writing software, but I will be doing the writing.
- My editing is done through Write Women Publish, which is done totally by a human.
- I use Adobe Photoshop, which sparked outrage with it's new terms of service for alleged stealing of IP, which they say they definitely were not doing and don't intend to do. Here is their response: https://blog.adobe.com/en/publish/2024/06/10/updating-adobes-terms-of-use
- I have been using Photoshop for over twenty years, and unless I see them do something I consider unethical I will continue to use that software. I have edited probably thousands of photos in Photoshop in the past twenty plus years.
- I sometimes use stock photos, clipart, stamps, brushes, and fonts from both Canva (I pay for Pro) and Photoshop. Canva has many safety mechanisms in place, including a commitment to creators regarding data scraping and a compensation plan. - I also use clipart, stamps, brushes, and fonts through Canva, Photoshop, CustomizedGirl, and any other platforms where I have Print on Demand merch.
